Programs Supported - Overview

The Foundation conducts two types of grantmaking programs:

Small Grants Program

This is a competitive grants program allowing the Foundation the opportunity to react to needs expressed by the community it serves. Features of this program are:

• The proposals originate from the community.
• The ideas reflect new, innovative initiatives for which other funds are not readily available.
• The funding is used for self-contained program components.

This is a targeted grants program allowing the Foundation to initiate program development within the community it serves. Features of this program are:

• The proposals are initiated by the Board in collaboration with partner groups. Unsolicited proposals are not accepted.
• The funding is used to build broad-based capacity within the community to address systemic issues of poverty as they relate to people living in stressed neighborhoods.
• Financial commitments to partner groups may contain multiple program components.
