dyer-ives foundation

A Message from the President

These are exciting times for the Dyer-Ives Foundation. Under the capable direction of Linda Patterson and Lee Nelson Weber, the Foundation is gradually, but scientifically, developing a thorough program to strengthen our central city neighborhoods.

There are, of course, enormous obstacles to achieving our goal of making all neighborhoods in Grand Rapids desirable places in which to live. But with the help of other foundations and concerned individuals, and with the understanding and commitment of the city administrators and commissioners, we may well be on our way to reversing the destructive patterns of the past.

Although our available funds are minuscule compared to the amounts that will eventually be needed, with our competent staff and concerned board members, we will be able to make effective use of our grants for maximum leverage.

It has always been my dream that our central city would turn around — led by the revival of its neighborhoods. Many thanks to Linda and Lee, as well as to our knowledgeable and caring board members, for their important part in beginning to make this dream come true.
